In 2021, the collection and recycling of almost 32,668 tonnes of silage and stretch films, yarns, bale nets, perforated films, asparagus films and nonwovens once again made a necessary and relevant contribution to climate protection.
Collected crop plastics are whenever possible mechanically recycled using processes that conserve instead of incinerated for thermal recovery. By recycling the materials, important raw materials are fed back into the cycle and CO₂ is saved.
The ERDE initiative was able to save the equivalent of 35,160 tonnes of CO₂. This is the equivalent to the CO₂ bound of 2,566,495 trees in Europe
The calculation methodology is according to the study of the Fraunhofer Institute Umsicht in 2022.
